Role Description

Acumen Pharmaceuticals is searching for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting Team. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Accounting/Corporate Controller, this role will work closely with other members of the Finance and Accounting team to ensure a smooth month end close process.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly Close and Accounting Tasks
    • Record journal entries and reconcile various balance sheet accounts, including cash, credit cards, investments and various prepaid asset and accrual accounts
    • Research and analyze financial activity and general ledger transactions
    • Collaborate with various departments to determine proper accruals each month for vendors and projects
    • Assist with payroll entries and accruals
    • Ensure adherence to month end close due dates and other reporting deadlines
    • Collect and provide documentation to auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits
    • Focus on tax compliance and state business registration
    • Learn accounts payable process to serve as a backup from time to time to facilitate invoice approvals and weekly payments
    • Responsible for SOX compliance related to the above duties and assist with the quarterly and annual financial and SOX404 certification
    • Identify areas for process improvements and implement changes
    • Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Detailed and organized
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including formulas and pivot tables
  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct is a plus

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area
  • Three to five years of previous experience in a similar role preferred
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative to meet deadlines
  • Ability to exercise discretion when working with confidential information
  • Pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience preferred

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 - $105,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to market data for this role, candidate experience, and internal relativity within Acumen. In addition, the role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus and to participate in Acumen’s equity plan.
