Position Summary
Contributes, with technical and scientific expertise to the design and development of high quality products on time, within budget, and with a high degree of customer satisfaction. Acts as a team leader for 2nd shift (Sunday – Thursday 3 – 11 PM).
Primary Duties
- Leads 2nd shift team for completion of assigned activities with limited supervision.
- Process biological specimen samples using aseptic techniques and following lab safety protocols.
- Performs data collection, interprets, and draws conclusions in an organized manner to continue the development process.
- Contributes to the development of tools for analyzing large performance data sets generated from experiments.
- Produces and presents technical information, both written and verbal, for internal and external audiences.
- Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Fosters relationships and promotes a team environment to achieve project goals.
- Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required: Microbiology preferred, Biology
- 5 years of professional related experience in Product Development of medical diagnostics or devices required, microbiology preferred
- Indirect or direct experience leading a team preferred
- Fields of Knowledge: Microbiology preferred, Biology, Biochemistry and/or Medical Diagnostics
- Experience with antibiotic susceptibility test method initiation (automated and reference methods) preferred
- Proficient in skills necessary for good laboratory safety, aseptic technique, and basic microbiology technique. 5S methodology experience preferred
- Experience in product development in a regulated environment highly preferred
- Experience managing large data sets; experience with JMP or other statistical software preferred

- Skilled in MS Office tools to include but not limited to Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel — Intermediate: applies skills independently in most situations; handles moderately complex tasks with occasional guidance

- Ability to remain in stationary position, either sitting or standing, for prolonged periods: Yes

- Travel required: 5% (5% domestic)
- Position is lab-based and follows work practices for working with laboratory biohazards and chemical hazards
