Job Title: Senior Product Engineer
Reports to: Director, Product Integrity Engineering
Job Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite with lab equipment / Flexible)
Job Summary:
Exo-Imaging is seeking a highly talented, driven and curious Senior Product Engineer to get hands on with Exo’s novel MEMS, ASIC and ultrasound technology. You will define the truth of performance over time, diving into product characterization, reliability, yield, real-world use, failure analysis, and design.
Job Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Design, execute, and evolve test methodologies to characterize ultrasound systems, MEMS devices, ASIC-integrated hardware, and prototype products.
- Develop automation for test execution, data collection, and analysis.
- Analyze large, complex datasets to extract meaningful performance metrics and trends.
- Partner with design teams to influence architecture, materials, and design decisions based on measured performance.
- Evaluate field and customer use data, complaints, and returns to inform reliability, design, and test updates.
- Operate and maintain laboratory test equipment including, benchtop automated tests, water tank and hydrophone, laser doppler vibrometer, X-Ray, wafer probe station, optical and IR microscope, impedance analyzer, thermal chambers, robotic arm, drop tower, and basic benchtop data collection systems.
- Plan, lead, and document FMEAs, driving concrete design and process improvements.
- Perform and coordinate failure analysis using techniques such as optical microscopy, X-ray, SEM/EDS, and cross-sectioning.
- Research new materials, packaging approaches, and physics-of-failure mechanisms relevant to MEMS and ultrasound devices.
- Analyze manufacturing yield, parametric data, and test escape trends to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Translate field insights into actionable design changes, test coverage improvements, and reliability specifications.
- Communicate findings clearly and effectively through reports, presentations, and data reviews tailored to diverse audiences (engineering, operations, leadership, regulatory).
Education/Experience Requirements:
- BS in ME, EE, Physics, or related field required.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware characterization, test engineering, reliability engineering, or product engineering.
- Strong experience designing and executing experimental test plans in a lab environment.
- Proficiency in data analysis and automation using tools such as Python or MATLAB.
- Experience analyzing complex datasets and communicating conclusions clearly.
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.
- Comfortable working onsite, hands-on, with hardware and lab equipment.
Preferred:
- MS or PhD in a relevant technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience with MEMS devices, silicon products, or semiconductor packaging.
- Experience with medical devices and/or consumer electronics.
- Familiarity with reliability testing standards and regulatory expectations.
- Experience working across MacOS, Linux (Ubuntu), and Windows environments.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Slack, and modern engineering workflows.
- Experience supporting vendor or third-party lab testing.

Salary Range: $175K - $195K
