The Opportunity

We’re looking for a sharp, proactive FP&A Analyst to take our Corporate FP&A to new heights at Flock! If you love diving into data, refining forecasts, and delivering strategic insights, you’ll fit right in. In this role, you’ll be a key player in optimizing our use of Pigment, driving accurate expense forecasting, and leading budget vs. actuals analysis for G&A. As part of our Corporate FP&A team, you’ll support Flock’s big-picture goals by ensuring precise cash burn forecasts and continually enhancing our financial planning processes. Your expertise will be essential to informed decision-making and seamless financial operations—directly contributing to Flock’s growth and success!

The Skillset

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; 2-3 years of experience in FP&A, Accounting or Investment Banking.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with a variety of financial systems, can quickly adapt to new tools, and has a willingness to leverage the best resources for accurate, efficient forecasting and reporting.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Legal, HR, and Security, to provide financial insights and foster efficient processes.

  • Problem-Solving Orientation: Capable of adapting to changing business conditions and delivering solutions to complex financial challenges.

90 Days at Flock

We are a results-oriented culture and believe job descriptions are a thing of the past. We prescribe 90 day plans and believe that good days lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as a FP&A Analyst Flock Safety.

The First 30 Days

  • Get acclimated with Flock's financial systems and processes, especially within Pigment, to support effective forecasting and reporting.

  • Start conducting an initial analysis of budget vs. actuals for G&A.

  • Begin cross-training to understand the process for weekly cash forecasting and accrual management, gaining insights into key drivers and best practices.

  • Get hands-on training in Coupa to manage expense approvals and track budget alignment effectively.

The First 60 Days

  • Complete Pigment training to build expertise and confidently take ownership of updating and managing expense forecasts. Develop a strong understanding of the existing reporting structures to effectively maintain and ensure their accuracy and relevance in supporting organizational goals.

  • Gain proficiency in Coupa to effectively manage and approve expenses. Develop confidence in ensuring expenditures align with forecasts and budgetary goals while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

  • Conduct detailed analyses of budget vs. actuals for G&A expenses, identifying key variances and trends for monthly reporting.

90 Days & Beyond

  • Provide regular, data-driven insights on G&A expenses, supporting strategic planning with detailed budget vs. actuals analysis.

  • Actively engage in ongoing phases of Pigment enhancements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine features, optimize workflows, and train end-users for maximum system utilization.

  • Fully manage the Coupa approval process, ensuring all expense requests align with budgets, forecasts, and company policies, while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

  • Proactively work with the finance team to identify and implement improvements in forecasting, reporting, and system capabilities, driving continuous advancements in financial planning.

The Interview Process

  1. Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are.

  2. The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.

  3. The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.

  4. The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.

  5. Hiring Manager Follow-Up: After completing earlier steps, you’ll have a final check-in with the hiring manager to review feedback, address any outstanding questions, and discuss the next steps. This follow-up ensures alignment and clarity before moving forward.

💰Salary & Equity: In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $90,000-$110,000 as well as stock options
