The Opportunity
Flock Safety is seeking a Senior Developer Advocate to scale our developer ecosystem by helping partners succeed and creating repeatable resources that improve the developer experience. This is a unique opportunity to be the first person in this role, reporting directly to the Product Management team.
You will work closely with external partners and internal teams to deliver the best possible developer experience, removing friction, enabling high-quality integrations, and helping internal teams understand and support our APIs effectively. Your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and ability to build relationships will be crucial in expanding our ecosystem and scaling developer adoption.
The Skillset
Previous experience as a Developer Advocate/Developer Relations, Technical Solutions Engineer, or in a similar technical role.
Skilled at identifying friction points in developer workflows and creating repeatable solutions that improve adoption and satisfaction.
Solid understanding of API principles, integrations, and developer tooling; able to quickly produce working code examples and reference integrations.
Experience building and maintaining relationships with external developers and technical partners to guide integration success.
Strong experience creating high-quality, customer-facing technical content (e.g., videos, tutorials, sample code (you will be expected to write sample code as part of enablement assets), walkthroughs).
Comfortable managing multiple projects and coordinating across cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Support) in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
You’re skilled at advocating for the developer program internally, helping teams across Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Revenue, Marketing, Support understand APIs and integration best practices.
Able to gather, analyze, and communicate developer feedback to influence product improvements and internal enablement strategies.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to perform hands-on support and enablement while documenting processes to scale developer onboarding and success.

The First 30 Days
Learn the Flock platform, APIs, and developer ecosystem.
Review current developer technical onboarding materials and resources.
Observe partner and internal interactions and identify key friction points.
The First 60 Days
Begin creating and improving developer-facing resources.
Guide partners through integrations and provide hands-on support.
Contribute to feedback loops that inform product and API improvements.
Partner with internal teams to advocate for developer needs, share best practices, and improve understanding of APIs and integrations.
90 Days & Beyond
Serve as the primary technical advocate for external developers.
Manage developer enablement and support to reduce friction.
Help scale the developer program to improve adoption, partner satisfaction, and integration success.
Continue internal advocacy, ensuring cross-functional teams are aligned with developer workflows and understand how to support partners effectively.
The Interview Process

The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
Salary & Equity
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $171,000-$185,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options.

At Flock Safety, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators.
