Vehicle Controls Engineer - EV

indiGOtech is reinventing vehicle architecture with our SmartWheels™ technology that integrates propulsion and active suspension directly into each wheel. This enables a whole new class of lighter, roomier and more efficient electric vehicles with superior user experience and unit economics.

indiGOtech is looking for a talented Vehicle Controls Engineer to develop closed-loop control algorithms for electric vehicle active suspension and drive systems. The candidate will work as part of the Controls Engineering team and will collaborate with embedded systems, electrical and mechanical engineering teams to develop, simulate and test vehicle control systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new and innovative solutions for optimizing vehicle performance and rider comfort under a variety of road and driving conditions.
  • Build vehicle models and perform simulations using various simulation tools including but not limited Matlab, Simulink, Simscape, Carsim to verify vehicle control system performance.
  • Plan, support execution of and analyze the results of vehicle tests to validate control features.
  • Coordinate with other teams regarding vehicle control system considerations in the design of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Design and develop code in Simulink to implement vehicle control algorithms, validate this code in the vehicle model and integrate the code into the vehicle firmware.
  • Develop design documentation and procedures for vehicle control systems.
  • Follow established processes for design, documentation, validation and release of new features.

Requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics or Aerospace engineering with exposure to Control Systems theory.
  • 3 years or more of relevant work experience
  • Solid understanding of modern and classical control theory, both theoretical and practical
  • Proficiency in using Matlab and Simulink for analysis and simulation
  • Experience in digital signal processing and control algorithm development in digital systems
  • Some experience using a high-level programming language such as C or C++.
  • Good understanding of Microcontroller Architecture
  • Knowledge of nonlinear control, stochastic systems, robust control, optimal control, nonlinear control, adaptive control System Identification theory
  • Knowledge of state estimation techniques, MIMO control systems, and constraint-based control techniques.
  • Highly-preferred experience in structural mechanics, multibody dynamics and vehicle dynamics
  • Highly-preferred experience in implementing and tuning active suspension systems
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualified candidates working from our EV facility and HQ in Woburn, MA (20-minutes from downtown Boston) are preferred and will be prioritized. Job Title and Compensation

  • The salary range for this position is between $117,000 and $149,000, based on full-time employment.
  • Actual salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and work location.
