The Protein, Bioanalysis, and Material Sciences (PMBS) group is part of the Precision Medicine, Bioanalytical and Translational Sciences (PMBATS) team. PMBATS leads internal and external bioanalytical and diagnostic research & development activities to support multiple disease areas of interest including hematological malignancies, inflammatory disease programs, neuroscience, cardiovascular, fibrosis, and solid tumor indications. The PMBATS group integrates scientific insights of multiple functions to provide innovative solutions that will make precision medicine a reality for the patients and health care providers we serve.

The primary purpose of this position is to design, execute, and analyze data for laboratory experiments which characterize protein reagents for use across multiple technology platforms, including but not limited to: Flow cytometry, IHC, and immunoassays. In this role the individual will be responsible for collaborating and communicating across the organization to assure on-time delivery of high-quality characterized materials.

Responsibilities:

• Works with limited supervision to design, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments to assess the biophysical/binding properties and physicochemical properties of antibody and non-antibody protein reagents using BLI, SPR, HRMS, SEC-MALS, and other technologies.

• Works with limited supervision to design and execute method development experiments for immunoassays.

• Work with limited supervision to perform conjugations/purification of antibody and non-antibody proteins.

• Works with limited supervision to interpret results, plan next steps, compile final data summaries, and present results to stakeholders.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand project needs and relay information back to the group. .

• Troubleshoots assay problems and instrument malfunctions.

• Maintains required training per BMS standard operating procedures.

• Maintains and completes notebooks and other documentation as per departmental guidelines.

• Achieves objectives in a manner consistent with the BMS Behaviors

• May contribute to writing and presentation of findings in the form of posters, publications, and oral presentations (internal and external)

Basic Qualifications:

For Scientist Level:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of related industry experience

• Master’s Degree with 3+ years of related industry experience

• Ph.D. in related field with 0 years of industry experience

For Senior Scientist Level:

Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of related industry experience

Master's Degree with 5+ years of related industry experience

Ph.D. in related field with 2+ years of industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with of BLI or SPR

• Experience with HRMS, SEC, RP chromatography, and Protein concentration techniques.

• Thorough knowledge of bioconjugation of antibody and non-antibody proteins.

• Knowledge in the development and validation of regulated pharmacokinetic, immunogenicity, and biomarker immunoassays.

• Familiarity with antibody and non-antibody protein generation.

• Knowledge of the drug discovery and development process.

• Familiarity with MALDI-MS for protein analysis.

• Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to independently interpret and deliver results.

• Ability to effectively work across levels and functions with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Excellent problem-solving skills.
