• Lead key strategic BD efforts in the China market; 80% dedicated to global strategic efforts, 20% dedicated to China 2030 strategy
• Lead strategic evaluations and sourcing in how we leverage China’s biotech ecosystem to source innovation for BMS globally; seen as expert in the ecosystem providing points of view on sourced innovative assets in China, presenting to the most senior BMS stakeholders including the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors
• Lead the building, recruiting and enablement of a local team of ~5 people to include: 3 therapeutic area Leads in Search & Evaluation, 1 Alliance Manager- China Lead, 1 Corporate Development/Transactions Lead; with the potential to grow the team if strategically needed
  • Team to mirror work dedication to this role: 80% global strategic BD efforts and 20% dedicated to China 2030 strategy
• Lead developing and executing the BMS China BD strategy as directed by the senior leadership team
• Key stakeholder and matrix partner to coordinate and collaborate across global and in-market teams including the Search & Evaluation team, Research and Development team, Commercial teams, etc. at the most senior levels of the enterprise
• Key internal BD partner to coordinate and collaborate with global Business Development organization to execute any diligence, transactions and other efforts – leveraging BD global capabilities
  • Ensure consistent excellence and standards across S&E, execution, compliance etc.
• Strategically communicate with and leverage relationships with Investment Banks, VCs, Consulting Firms in China in coordination with SVP Head of Global Business Development
• Leverage local network and information flow to position BMS strategically and tactically to take advantage of strategic opportunities within BMS areas of focus as determined by global therapeutic area strategy
  • Initial focus on IND-staged/near-proof of concept/proof of concept
  • Post-proof of concept/later staged opportunities also in scope however opportunity dependent
• Accountable for tracking trends and emerging data/innovation in country to ensure BMS is strategically at the forefront of emerging and transformational opportunities, even if not part of the current TA strategy
• Utilize strong business background and BD leadership experience to ensure success in growing BMS local BD team
• Help facilitate and execute commercial-staged transactions to achieve BMS global BD strategy in China and beyond

Coordinate with local senior leadership to ensure any potential opportunities are pursued in coordination with global Business Development

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
