About the candidate
The candidate serves as an Operational Risk Specialist, playing a vital role within the operational risk management function at Nu Mexico. The main duties involve identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating operational risks that may hinder the company from reaching its objectives. This is accomplished by developing methodologies and ensuring their implementation and execution within the first line of defense. This process includes training, review and challenge, monitoring key risk indicators, and escalating issues in appropriate Risk Forums. This role involves close collaboration with different departments and teams to execute various Operational Risk programs aimed at reducing and controlling the likelihood and impact of adverse operational risk events.
What you will do: - Lead the oversight of the implementation of operational risk policies, advanced technology solutions, cutting-edge tools, and comprehensive governance processes. Ensure these are aligned with both local and global standards.
- Anticipate and identify complex challenges, and spearhead the development of innovative solutions to drive continuous process improvements. Incorporate industry best practices and forward-thinking strategies into the operational risk framework.
- Assess risks and proactively implement strategic actions to address and eliminate root causes of potential operational risk losses. Demonstrate foresight in mitigating risks before they materialize.
- Monitor and analyze loss events and incidents related to operational risks in a timely manner, ensuring a clear root cause analysis and defining corrective actions for future prevention.
- Provide strategic guidance and support to frontline business units and functions, ensuring regulatory compliance is achieved seamlessly without impeding business objectives.
- Participate in the planning and execution of risk matrices for processes associated with the institution's products, ensuring high-quality information and the association of properly defined controls.
- Evaluate the operational risks associated with the launch of new products, features, and processes, ensuring thorough assessment and mitigation strategies are in place.
- Prepare reports and presentations tailored to various audiences, including board and management risk committees and senior leadership.
- Operate with limited direct supervision and exercise independence of judgment and autonomy.
- As a subject matter expert (SME), you will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders and other team members to drive effective risk management practices.

Candidate Requirements: |
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineer, Risk Management or related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years experience in operational risk management, internal audit, compliance, consulting.
- Strong knowledge of the operational risk management frameworks (RCSA, Loss Database, Third Party Risk Management, Risk assessment of new products, etc).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with regulatory compliance and corporate governance standards.
- Strong knowledge of Control Testing and Monitoring throughout substantive testing and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
- Experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment and adapt quickly to shifting priorities and changes in processes or regulations.
- Fluent in English is a must.

*Interviewing and onboarding are currently done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team and our current staff will remain working from home until it is safe to return to our offices. When it’s time, we will require a fixed cadence of visiting the office in which employees go to their Business Unit's (BU) base location.
