LabCorp is seeking a Medical Transcriptionist to join our team in Brentwood, Tennessee. This role will include transcribing, coding, and delivering gross descriptions on surgical pathology cases comprised of moderately difficult medical terminology.

The work schedule for this position is Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and efficient transcription of spoken dictation into pathology reports, including Hematopathology, Surgical Pathology, and Consultation reports, which requires strict adherence to defined standards of patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA)
  • Data entry of macroscopic description data into pathology reports from laboratory worksheets.
  • Meet pathologist expectations regarding terminology, formatting, and prioritization.
  • Prepare, report, confirm billing, and monitor pending cases sent for referral lab testing.
  • Communicate with reference laboratories for resolution of reporting errors/delays.
  • Monitor, update, and resolve transcription and send-out reporting issues via internal documentation application.
  • Prepare send-out slides and reports for return to client.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of medical transcriptionist/transcription-related experience OR completion of a Medical Transcription education/certificate program plus 1 year of transcriptionist/transcription-related experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomic pathology, and laboratory test information.
  • Pathology experience is desirable
  • Ability to comprehend and transcribe different accents.
  • Experience using transcription equipment and dictation software applications.
  • Experience using medical documentation software applications.
  • Excellent command of the English language, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to proofread, edit, and format medical documents.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under time and volume constraints.
  • Competency with Microsoft office applications.
