Labcorp is seeking a remote Sr Mainframe Applications Programmer/Analyst to join our team!
Work Schedule: This is a full‑time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a Night Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 5:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. in your local time zone. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.
Job Responsibilities
Team Development and Mentorship
Mentor and support junior/mainframe developers.
Act as a technical escalation point for critical issues.
Technical Oversight
Oversee development and maintenance of mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
Provide technical guidance and conduct code reviews for development teams.
Monitor batch jobs, application performance, and production stability.
Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues and system failures.
Perform impact analysis and support application enhancements and deployments.
Ensure adherence to coding standards, SDLC processes, and system security/compliance.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
Partner with cross‑functional teams including product management, operations, and IT to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Communicate priorities, progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership and key stakeholders.
Delivery and Operations
Attend project related meetings which may include daily stand-ups depending on the project (A mix of waterfall and agile projects may be assigned).
Analysis and documentation of project requirements/technical specs using standard document templates
Coding per company standards
Unit testing and documentation of unit test plans and test summaries per standard docs.
Possible production support ticket research
QA/UA support as needed
Support as needed for projects after production deployment.
Works well individually and as part of a team.
Provide weekly status report of current assignments at end of each week.
Drive production stability and minimize downtime risks.
Ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards
Innovation and Emerging Technologies
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to inform innovation and continuous improvement efforts within the engineering organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
15 or more years of experience as Sr. Mainframe Applications Programmer/Analyst with on an IBM mainframe.
4 or more years of experience with following tools such as COBOL (IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, JCL, DB2/SQL, VSAM File Processing, TSO/ISPF, Research, Analysis & Debugging skills, Documentation of technical specs, unit test plan and test summary , MS Windows/MS Office 365/MS Team, CICS, Quikjob/Vision: Report, Easytrieve, File-Aid/File Manager, DB2 utilities: ADB, QMF, SPUFI, FM/DB2, SCLM (change management tool), ChangeMan/ZMF (change management tool), IBM RDz/IDz (Windows Client-based Development tool), CICS Web Services, Gen/COOL, Gen, GuardIEn (used with Gen), SBM (Solutions Business Manager by OpenText -acquired by Serena) for ticket management, Confluence/Jira, OPC/TWS/IWS, Teams.
Additional Job Standards
