Senior Trade Compliance Manager, China

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Trade Compliance Manager, China to join our team in Shanghai China.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to improve overall trade compliance, especially if Labcorp CLS acts as importer. Develop the local team towards compliance by equipping them the relevant skillsets such as HS code classification, inco terms, IATA knowledge, customs-initiated audit preparations.

  • Develop systems and processes that assure compliance with regulatory requirements across the R&D Labs and Logistics vendors (couriers, customs broker), monitors compliance with procedures and practices.

  • Research and determine import and export requirements in China and rest of Asia-Pac. As needed, work with Regulatory Relationship Manager, to perform deeper dive into the regulations.

  • Manage a team who would support China permit applications e.g. Risk A, B, C items, and offer consultation to other departments, on import/export requirements. Oversee the process of import/export permit applications covering all Labcorp labs. As needed for international shipments leaving Labcorp China labs, understand the importation requirements of destination countries.

  • Work in cooperation with the internal departments and Logistics Operations team to ensure a seamless flow of supplies movement. Initiate discussions with Regulatory Relationship Manager, on operational challenges that require long term solutions or negotiation with China regulatory. As needed, perform risk assessment together with Regulatory Relationship Manager, and share with Labcorp internal stakeholders & management.

  • Together with Logistics Operations team, establish emergency contingency and shipment recovery plans to compensate for regulatory changes that may disrupt operations, such as customs closings, etc.

  • Understand documentation requirements for international shipping and country-specific regulatory compliance, including dangerous goods regulations and restrictions, what level of detail is necessary, and what forms are needed and strictly comply with these requirements.

  • Effective and timely adherence to management communications, meetings and procedures.

  • Strict adherence to company corporate policies

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Global operations management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics or business.

  • 5 or more years of experience in clinical trial logistics.

  • 3 months or more experience with HS code classification and familiarity in IATA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of proven experience in Logistics and/or Transportation within the CRO industry, or a reputable international transportation company or an international industrial company with track records of managing Logistics team.

  • 8 or more years of proven experience managing regulatory for an international company managing import/export of regulated materials and requiring regular contacts with government officials.

  • Proficiency in English.

  • Ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels of organization with diplomacy and tact.
